The modern game of poker usually uses a standard deck of 52 cards. In some countries, a short pack of cards is used. Some variants of poker award the pot to the lowest-ranked hand, while other games divide the pot between the highest and lowest hands. The goal of a cash game is to win money, while the goal of a tournament is to be the leader in the chip leader board.
The basic rules of poker are the same in all poker variations, but the number of cards that are dealt to each player and the number of rounds of betting vary.
